Cigna Dental Network in Texas
Cigna runs two dental PPO networks: Advantage (used by the Preventive, 1000, 1500 and bundled plans) and the larger Total network (used by the 3000/100 and Advance plans). Both are nationwide DPPO networks with deep coverage across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. You can see any licensed dentist, but in-network care gets Cigna’s negotiated rates – usually the difference between a plan that feels cheap and one that feels expensive.
Verify your dentist in the Cigna directory before you enroll.

Cigna Dental FAQ
What is Cigna Dental Choice?
In Texas, Cigna’s individual dental plan is sold as Cigna Dental Choice and uses the national Cigna DPPO network. It’s the same plan lineup you see quoted online – the name only shows up in your policy paperwork.
Are there waiting periods?
Preventive care is covered from day one on every plan. Standard plans apply a 6-month wait to basic and major services, but the Dental Advance 2000 and 3000 have no waiting periods on any covered class – the main reason to pick them if you need work done soon.
Can I buy Cigna dental insurance any time of year?
Yes. Dental plans have no open enrollment window. Enroll any day and coverage starts on the first of a following month – quotes can be run up to 3 months ahead.
Can I keep my own dentist?
Yes – these are PPO plans, so you can see any licensed dentist. You’ll save the most with a dentist in Cigna’s Advantage or Total network, so check the directory before enrolling.
How do these rates compare to other Texas dental carriers?
Cigna’s $18-$37/month core plans undercut most Texas competitors at the entry level, while the Advance plans compete with no-waiting-period carriers like Spirit Dental at a similar price point but with a growing annual maximum.
