No Waiting Period Dental Insurance That Covers Major Work Right Away

Most individual dental insurance plans in Texas make you wait 6 to 12 months before they pay for a crown, then cap what they will pay at $1,000 to $3,000 a year. That is exactly when people need coverage the most - a cracked tooth, a failed filling, a crown your dentist says cannot wait.

Allstate Health Solutions built Copay Plan 2 for that situation. There is no waiting period on any service and no annual benefit maximum, so the plan keeps paying on major work no matter how much treatment you need in a year. Instead of coinsurance and a deductible, you pay a flat, known copay per procedure.

No Waiting Periods

Preventive, basic, major tier 1 and major tier 2 services all start on your effective date. The standard Copay plan makes you wait six months for major services.

No Max

No Annual Maximum

There is no annual benefit maximum - even on crowns, root canals and bridges. The standard Copay plan stops paying at $3,000 per person per plan year.

$350

Copays Drop in Year Two

Tier 2 major services like crowns fall from a $500 copay in year one to $350 in year two. Basic services drop from $100 to $50, and preventive care is $0 both years.

Allstate Copay Plan 2 vs. Allstate Copay Plan

Allstate offers two copay designs on the Select Dental PPO. Both use the same Aetna Dental Administrators network and neither has a deductible. The difference is what matters when you need major work soon.

Which plan is right for you? If you only need cleanings and a filling or two, the Copay plan's $50 copays are hard to beat. If you need a crown, root canal or bridge in the next six months - or you have a lot of dental work ahead - Copay Plan 2 is the better fit: no six-month wait and no $3,000 cap on what the plan pays.

Need a Crown This Week? How to Get Covered Fast

If your dentist has already told you that you need a crown, a waiting period is the difference between paying a copay and paying the full bill. With most dental insurance you would pay out of pocket for the next six to twelve months. With Allstate Copay Plan 2 there is no waiting period on crowns, so here is the fastest path:

  1. Apply for Copay Plan 2 today - online through our Allstate dental quote page, or call (972) 666-0578 and a licensed Texas agent will help you pick the earliest effective date available.
  2. Book the crown on or after your effective date. Treatment rendered before the effective date is not covered, so do not start the crown prep until your policy is in force.
  3. Use an Aetna Dental Administrators dentist if you can. Your copay is the same in or out of network in Texas - $500 per crown in year one, $350 in year two - but network dentists have agreed to discounted fees, which helps you avoid a balance bill.
  4. No cap to worry about. Need two crowns and a root canal? Each is a separate tier 2 copay, and there is no annual maximum to run through.

The copay is also waived for a post and core or core buildup done in addition to a crown, and for deep sedation or general anesthesia during major services.

Read before you enroll for major work: the plan does not pay to replace a tooth that was already missing before your effective date (for example, a bridge or denture for that gap) until you have been insured for 24 months. Crowns are not covered when the tooth could be restored with a filling, and for children under 16, crowns are limited to stainless steel or plastic. Dental implants are not covered.

Aetna Dental Administrators Network

Both Allstate copay plans use the Aetna Dental Administrators PPO network - about 89,000 providers nationwide, according to Allstate. Texas is a passive network state, which means there are no cost-sharing differences between in-network and out-of-network dentists: your copay is the same either way. Network dentists have agreed to discounted fees. Out of network, the plan pays the maximum allowable amount and you pay the copay plus any remaining balance, so check the provider finder below to see whether your dentist participates.
