Spirit Dental Network in Texas
Spirit uses the Ameritas PPO network for in-network savings. Most Texans in metro areas (DFW, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso) will find their dentist already in network. You can use any licensed dentist out of network, but your costs will be higher and your dentist may bill above the plan’s allowable amount.
Verifying your dentist
Before enrolling, search the Ameritas DPPO directory at dentalnetwork.ameritas.com/classic or call 972-666-0578 and we’ll check for you.

Spirit Dental FAQ
Are there really no waiting periods on major work?
Yes – on basic and major services, including crowns and bridges. The only waiting period is on the optional orthodontia rider (12 months). This is the headline reason most Texans pick Spirit over BCBSTX, Ameritas standalone, or Humana dental.
Is Spirit Dental the same as Ameritas?
Spirit Dental policies are underwritten by Ameritas Life Insurance Corp, but Spirit is its own brand with its own product design, deductible structure, and pricing. The Ameritas PPO network is shared. Claims are processed through Ameritas.
What’s the deductible?
$100 lifetime deductible on most plans (not annual). After you meet it once, it’s done for the life of the policy. The lifetime deductible also drops $25/year you stay on the plan, eventually reaching $0.
Can I enroll any time of year?
Yes. Spirit Dental has no open enrollment window. You can apply any day of the year and most applications are approved same-day with first-of-next-month effective dates.
Does Spirit cover implants?
Implants are covered on Premier Plus only, at 50% after deductible, with a $1,500-$3,000 lifetime maximum. Standard waiting period exclusions do not apply.
How do I cancel if I change carriers?
Spirit Dental plans are month-to-month after the initial 12-month commitment on some plan tiers. You can cancel by giving 30 days’ written notice to Ameritas or your agent.
