Drug copays on many plans apply at preferred in-network pharmacies; other in-network pharmacies cost more. "After deductible" means you pay the full allowed amount until the deductible is met. Signature plans are sold off the exchange only.

Ways to lower your cost

Premium tax credits

Available only when you enroll through HealthCare.gov. The credit depends on your household income and size and lowers your monthly premium on any on-exchange metal plan. Security (catastrophic) plans cannot be paired with a tax credit.

Cost-sharing reductions

If your income qualifies, on-exchange Silver plans come in enhanced versions with lower deductibles, copays and out-of-pocket maximums at the same premium. The table below shows what each level looks like.

Health Savings Accounts

All 2027 BCBSTX Bronze and Security plans are filed as HSA eligible, so you can set aside pre-tax dollars for deductibles, copays and other qualified expenses.

2027 BCBSTX questions and answers

Are these 2027 BCBSTX rates final?

No. The premiums on this page are the rates Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas filed for 2027. In its published rate justification, BCBSTX lists a proposed average change of 8.8% for Blue Advantage HMO and 9.9% for Blue Advantage Plus POS, with individual plans ranging from a 12.2% decrease to a 22.3% increase. Rates are subject to regulatory review and can change, and we will update this page if they do.

When can I enroll in a 2027 plan?

Open enrollment for 2027 coverage begins November 1, 2026 on HealthCare.gov and directly with BCBSTX. Enroll by December 15, 2026 for coverage that starts January 1, 2027. Outside open enrollment you need a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marriage or the birth of a child.

Which BCBSTX plans are sold in my county?

Blue Advantage HMO and Blue Advantage Plus POS are filed in all 254 Texas counties. MyBlue Health is filed in 18 counties: Bexar, Cameron, Collin, Comal, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Fort Bend, Harris, Hidalgo, Jefferson, McLennan, Montgomery, Nueces, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, Williamson. Choose your county in the plan finder above to see exactly which plans and premiums apply to you.

Does BCBSTX offer an individual PPO for 2027?

No. The 2027 individual filing contains HMO and POS plans only. Blue Advantage Plus POS is the option with out-of-network benefits: it has a separate out-of-network deductible of $15,000 per person and still requires referrals for specialists.

What happens to my 2026 BCBSTX plan?

BCBSTX filed a renewal path for every one of its 546 individual plan IDs from 2026. Of those, 383 renew under the same plan ID and 163 move to a different plan within the same product. Your renewal notice will show your 2027 plan and premium. Benefits and prices change every year, so it is worth comparing before you let a plan renew automatically.

Which 2027 plans work with a Health Savings Account?

The filing lists every 2027 BCBSTX Bronze plan and all three Security (catastrophic) plans as HSA eligible. That is 11 plan options. Silver and Gold plans in this filing are not HSA eligible.

Do tobacco users pay more?

Yes. BCBSTX filed a tobacco surcharge for adults age 21 and older. It ranges from about 13% to 32% of the premium depending on age. There is no surcharge under age 21. Use the tobacco option in the plan finder to see the difference.

Can I get a tax credit with these plans?

Premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions are available only for plans bought through HealthCare.gov, the federal marketplace Texas uses. 25 of the 32 plan options are filed for sale on the marketplace. The 7 Signature plans are sold off the exchange only and cannot be paired with a tax credit.

Does it cost more to enroll through Texas Health Agents?

No. Premiums are set by the filing and are the same whether you enroll directly, through the marketplace or with a licensed agent. Our help is free to you.

Ready to compare or enroll?

Texas Health Agents is a licensed, independent agency appointed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Our help is free and your premium is the same either way.
